Memorial Day
Each May, our Post participates in solemn ceremonies to honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. These events often include flag ceremonies, wreath-laying, and moments of silence at local memorials and cemeteries.
Veterans Day
On November 11, we join with our community to recognize and celebrate the service of all U.S. military veterans. Members of our Post take part in parades, civic gatherings, and school events to ensure veterans’ sacrifices are never forgotten.
September 11 Remembrance
Each year, we take part in local observances to honor the victims and heroes of the September 11, 2001, attacks. These events are dedicated to unity, resilience, and honoring the first responders and service members who protect our freedoms.
Other Veteran Ceremonies
Our Post is also present at local dedications, Gold Star family remembrances, and other military-related community events. We believe in standing alongside our community whenever our nation’s defenders are being honored.
School Visits
Members of our Post regularly visit local schools to speak with students about the history and mission of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. These visits provide young people with firsthand accounts of military service, the importance of citizenship, and an understanding of the freedoms we enjoy.
Community Talks
Our members are available to share stories, history, and information with civic groups, scouting organizations, and community clubs. Through these efforts, we keep the memory of service alive while fostering pride in our nation.
In addition to formal ceremonies and school visits, our Post is committed to being an active, supportive presence in our community. Some of the activities other VFW Posts across the country participate in include:
Scholarship Programs: Supporting youth through the VFW’s Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen essay contests.
Community Service Projects: Volunteering with food drives, blood drives, and local charity events.
Veteran Assistance: Hosting resource fairs or partnering with local organizations to connect veterans with healthcare, housing, and job services.
Parades and Festivals: Marching in or supporting local parades, fairs, and civic celebrations to share the VFW’s presence with the broader community.
Buddy Poppy Program: Raising awareness and funds for veteran assistance programs through our annual poppy drives.
