SCHOLARSHIPS: VOICE OF DEMOCRACY / PATRIOTS PEN

Youth Scholarships - The VFW is dedicated to promoting patriotism and investing in our future generation. Each year, the VFW offers two scholarships to students at the high school and middle school levels. 
 
The themes for the 2025-2026 year is:  
"How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country?”

Completed applications are due back to the post by October 31, 2025. Postmarked by that date but received within 1 week are also accepted. You can drop off the application directly at the post, or you can mail them to this address:

Voice of Democracy Scholarship

The Voice of Democracy scholarship program is open to all high school students. Post 2498 awards cash prizes to our local 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

Our 1st place winner advances to the District level, where additional cash awards may be earned. District winners then move on to the State competition, where the top student receives a scholarship of at least $1,000. The State winner advances to the National level, where the national first-place recipient is awarded a $35,000 scholarship, paid directly to their chosen American university, college, or vocational/technical school.

Patriot’s Pen Scholarship

The Patriot’s Pen scholarship program is open to all middle school students. Post 2498 awards cash prizes to our local 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

Our 1st place winner advances to the District level, where additional cash awards may be earned. District winners then move on to the State competition, where the top student receives a scholarship of at least $500. The State winner advances to the National level, where the national first-place recipient is awarded a $5,000 scholarship.
