Honoring the United States Flag
At Post 2498, we are committed to upholding the traditions and respect due to our nation’s flag. Our members ensure that every flag is treated with dignity from the moment it is raised to the moment it is retired.
Flag Retirement
When a U.S. flag becomes worn, faded, or unserviceable, it should be retired with honor. Our Post accepts worn flags from the community and conducts proper retirement ceremonies in accordance with tradition.
Flag Donations
Schools and Community Organizations: We provide American flags to local schools and community institutions when possible, ensuring that the next generation understands the importance of our national symbol.
Casket Flags: Families in need may request a U.S. flag for a veteran’s casket. We will assist in coordinating this with the funeral home or appropriate authorities.
Casket Flag Donations: Some families choose to donate a burial casket flag after services. These cherished flags are preserved and displayed with honor at our Post or used in community remembrance events. They may also be flown at a local school in need of a flag, or at the VFW Post when our own flag needs to be retired.
